Paula Curci

Nassau County Poet Laureate for 2022-2024

Paula Curci is the Nassau County Poet Laureate for 2022-2024. Paula produces Calliope’s Corner, and What’s The Buzz®, on WRHU where she is also the Poet in Residence. She has been interviewing local writers and poets for over two decades, and currently is also a Poet Correspondent for THE SCENE magazine. Paula a certified Journal to the Self™ writing instructor, and also a retired School Counselor. She has been conducting introspective writing workshops for over twenty five years. Paula co-founded the SHORE POETS open mic and the Poetry: It’s a ‘Shore’ Thing!™ Poetry Festival at the Long Beach Library. She hosts the Hicksville Library open mic and the Port Washington poetry reading circle. She’s co-edited Poetry: It’s a ‘Shore’ Thing! In an Unsure World An Anthology of Micro Memoirs from the South Shore Poets of Long Island. She has authored One Woman’s Cathartic Release in Poetry, Done That and The Gift of Thanksgiving. Paula co-founded the Acoustic Poets Network™ and has conducted various programs under its brand including her laureate visitation project. With APN Paula has produced Emissary, Bittersweet and Done That-The Audio Version. She is known for her style of recitation, called Posics™. Paula has received multiple education, broadcast and poetry awards and two SCR- NYSCA grants for The Word Festival, in Oceanside NY, and her upcoming book of Portrait Poems.
